Some time ago, SockSeed pooled its recourses and asked its “parents” that’s how we call our employees. Yup, the other day our CEO and CTO called SockSeed their kid. And let’s be honest, for a person his/her product is like a kid.
But what SockSeed asked us is, what do we think about ideas. And then we got a great sentence Idea=Solution to a Problem, so we thought to tell our readers more about Solutions and Problems in general!
Must Have vs Nice to Have
Today we, consumers are overwhelmed with the paradox of choice on daily basis. Think of it, every time you are on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram you get bombarded with all that products, and you just don’t know what to choose. But with so many products, or should we say choices we get more distracted, but at the same time “know” what we need. Thus, for you as an entrepreneur, you need to be doing something different and better to make it in this world, as consumers expect and demand more than just another product.
Choose an idea that leads not to a “nice to have product” but a must have essential!

How to Get There?
Right now, you are definitely thinking something along these lines: “A must have essential? How do I find that?”
Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. That’s where research comes in. Yes, remember those presentations you had to do in High school or University? Where you had to research? Well, time to get back to old days, as coming up with an idea is not as easy as it might seem. True, some brilliant ideas might come to you during a shower or in times when you just don’t have anything to write on. But then again, some great ideas come from research.
We had a problem with search engines, so Google simplified it; we wanted to simplify our online shopping, hence Amazon; and we wanted to stream videos online on demand, so Netflix appeared. We can go on, but what we are interested is what new solution can you come up to an existing problem?
We’ve mentioned this before, but we’ll be mentioning this many, many times more! Passion is one of the key elements that SockSeed believed drives people. Let’s be honest, if you hate your job, you won’t bring good results, or you will bring results, but you just have that feel of satisfaction.
Someone once said: Turn your hobby into a job! and yes, hobby and a job are totally different things, but just imagine, your hobbies make you motivated, passionate about them, and if you have a chance to make a profit from them, well, what are you waiting for? Go get it!
Some entrepreneurs look to solve problems they identify with or feel passionate. They choose this path because work becomes less about work and more about enjoying the journey.
You will need all the inspiration, commitment and the perseverance you can get to make it as an entrepreneur, hence the need to start a business you are passionate about.
“The happiest and most successful people I know don’t just love what they do, they’re obsessed with solving an important problem, something that matters to them,” Dropbox co-founder Drew Houston said during the 2013 MIT commencement address.
But Passion is not Everything!
Passion is good, but you can’t live on it long. You’ll need some fundamental skills and one of them is the ability to execute. No matter how good your idea is, if you can’t deliver it, sorry, it’s a game over. If your product targets a “real need”, you won’t need to convince people about the existence of the problem.
Don’t start a business that may not survive. Do your homework, validate your idea and make sure you have a real market for your idea. Don’t just start another business, solve a real problem people actually have to increase your chances of success.
And if you still wonder how to do all that, SockSeed has you covered, just follow your idea with us and see where it can lead you! Ready to show us your solution to a problem you are passionate about to solve? We will be here 24/7 ready to help!
